Studies have shown that 87% of all job failures are due to personality conflicts while 93% of employers think that hiring the right people remains the most pressing issue challenging their organisations.

Selecting and retaining the best talents today is a constant challenge and huge responsibility for most organisations. This is because hiring the wrong person can be both costly and damaging. Hence, the goal of this workshop - to equip managers and human resource professionals with the knowledge and skills to confidently conduct a behavioural interview.

 Objectives
   
Through active involvement in this workshop, participants will:
Assess their own strengths and improvement needs in selection interviewing
Distinguish key features of the behavioural interviewing approach and the demands that this approach places on the interviewer.
Create a checklist of tasks that should be completed in preparation for a selection interview.
Review questioning, probing and listening techniques used in behavioural interviews.
Select appropriate interviewing strategies based on the candidate’s experience and background and the parameters of the job.
Evaluate the quality of the candidate’s responses to key behavioural questions.
Participate in a role-play behavioural interview and evaluate the effectiveness of a role-play interview conducted by their peers.

Dr Margaret S Gremli is an experienced training consultant, writer and researcher whose experience includes working in Europe, Canada, the USA and Australia as well as in several countries in South East Asia. In Singapore, she has consulted in the public sector and the private sector in local and multinational corporations. Dr Gremli has been leading seminars in interviewing techniques for the past seventeen years as well as doing one-to-one coaching on the selection interviewing process.

Dr Gremli' seminars are designed to challenge the individual, maximise participation and provide a setting in which an exchange of ideas enriches learning experience. She is committed to working with individuals who value lifelong learning and who consciously work towards a higher level of professionalism in their chosen career.

Dr Gremli is a science graduate with an MA in Curriculum and Instruction and a Ph.D in Adult Education and Professional Development from Michigan State University, USA.
