  • Understand Six Seconds' EQ Model ‘Know Yourself, Choose Yourself, Give Yourself’  to get optimal results in your relationships with yourself and others

  • Experience meaningful reflection to examine your capacity to be a professional EQ personnel

  • Join a learning environment constructed to enhance intrapersonal and interpersonal emotional intelligence
  • Increase your ability to transfer this authentic, multisensory and interactive EQ way to achieve more effective relationships and improved performance
   
 Outline

I.          Why EQ?

  • Understand emotions are a source of information and energy that we can use effectively
  • Emotional intelligence is effectively blending thinking and feelings to make optimal decisions and exhibit desirable behaviors
  • The Emotional and Logical Brain
    Understand the neuroscience behind this powerful EQ way of knowing yourself and others

II.         Know Yourself is increasing self-awareness. It is based on understanding how you function.

  • Emotional Literacy
    Learn to identify and appropriately express emotions using the Feeling Elevator and Plutchik’s Emotional Map
  • Recognize Patterns of Behaviour
    Recognize the causes and effects of your own feelings and reactions and manage the patterns of effective behaviors
  • Manage Emotional Hijack
    Apply the Six Seconds Pause to manage your feelings

III.    Choose Yourself is building self-management. It focuses on consciously choosing your thoughts, feelings and actions.

  • Choice and Values
    Apply consequential thinking to choose effective behavior wisely
  • Optimism
    Realize that you have choices and you can make a difference at work
  • Navigate Emotions
    Learn to shift the balance and decide on your choice points in the reaction cycle

IV.       Give Yourself is developing self-direction. It comes from using empathy and principled decision-making to increase emotional wisdom for greater performance.

    Apply ways to connect with people at work, understand them, and build effective relationship

Develop social behaviours to better understand others, read non-verbal cues and respond effectively

    Align your purpose at work, beliefs and competencies for continuous learning and growth

 Principal Facilitator

Seow Bee Leng is the director of Continuum Learning Pte Ltd and an adjunct lecturer with Nanyang Technological University. She has accumulated over 10 years of experience in the field of learning and performance. She is known for her ability to conduct workshops by using a hands-on approach, which facilitates an effective learning process. She keeps the audience participating, enjoying and learning throughout the session.

She is effectively bi-lingual in English and Chinese. She has effectively delivered training programs to organizations from both private and public sectors in diverse industries, facilitating key knowledge transfer and delivering leading edge training methodologies to support the business objectives. She has trained in many countries, including China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia. Bee Leng has received training certification in (i) ‘Go-the-Extra-Mile for Service’ (GEMS) customer service, (ii) Rob Parsons ‘The Heart of Success’ workshop, (iii) certified EQ trainer with Six Seconds Emotional Intelligence, (iii) certified coach of LifeForming Leadership Coaching.

In her previous appointment with Singapore Airlines (SIA), Bee Leng was responsible for developing a team of 200 trainers committed to SIA Cabin Crew Training Vision of developing service professionals of distinction within a learning culture. She was involved in the full spectrum of training and development initiatives such as developing the program into learning units, selecting the most effective methods for delivery and conducting the programs geared towards SIA’s business needs.  Bee Leng also implemented a systematic and objective approach to measure training impact, conducted training evaluation of SIA internal and external instructors, with the aim of providing high quality training for cabin crew to maintain SIA’s highest standard of indisputable service leadership.

She has high level consulting skills as a Consultant with Accenture (Business Consulting). She had deep experience working with multi-cultural groups and championing knowledge transfer programs to meet the clients’ strategic objectives. She achieved good understanding of the global business environment, provide recommendations to clients to continuously improve their learning solutions to support business objectives.

Bee Leng graduated with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with Dean’s Honor List for Outstanding Achievements, Nanyang Business School - Nanyang Technological University.  Her MBA dissertation was presented as a conference paper at the Annual Conference of American Marketing Association in Chicago, August 2000. It was also published in the Journal of Product and Brand Management, Vol. 11 No. 3, 2002.  She is currently pursuing her doctorate in service research with University of Western Australia.

Notes :  Six Seconds' EQ model draws on the work of Peter Salovey, Ph.D. and Jack Mayer, Ph.D. who first defined EQ as a scientific concept. It also aligns with the model popularized by Daniel Coleman in his 1995 book, Emotional Intelligence.
